JOB VACANCY: ROOM ATTENDANT

A vacancy currently exists for a Room Attendant at Mapungubwe National Park & World Heritage Site.
The successful incumbent will report to the Duty Manager.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 with three (3) years’ practical work experience in hospitality or tourist accommodation
  • A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of customer service principles
  • Knowledge of First Aid and safe working procedures
  • Hygiene skills and a Room Attendant Course will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of the SANParks Act, Safety Regulations, and Code of Conduct
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Understanding of accepted tourism standards

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning duties in chalets, ablution blocks, camping sites, offices, and surrounding areas in line with prescribed standards
  • Clean public areas such as reception, restrooms, and walkways, and report abnormalities to the supervisor
  • Control and manage inventory items
  • Report equipment and maintenance faults
  • Assist with the collection of supplies when required
  • Assist with general duties in the rest camp and linen room
  • Perform ad hoc duties as instructed by the Supervisor
  • Ensure sufficient stock supply to guest units
  • Relieve other Room Attendants when required

Please Note

  • The successful candidate will be accommodated in official accommodation inside the park

Remuneration

  • Paterson Grade: A3
  • The remuneration package includes a monthly salary on the A3 Paterson grading scale, with benefits as stipulated in the Reference Guide for Human Resources Matters and Conditions of Service of SANParks
